Our Activities

APNA works across the Asia-Pacific region through a range of initiatives designed to advance universal accessibility, inclusion, and women-led leadership. Each activity is rooted in collaboration, advocacy, and the lived experiences of persons with disabilities.

1. Advocacy & Policy Influence

We engage with governments, regional bodies, and development partners to embed universal accessibility into national frameworks and policies.

  • Promote gender-responsive, disability-inclusive legislation aligned with the Jakarta Declaration (2023–2032).
  • Advocate for the leadership of women with disabilities within decision-making spaces.
  • Build momentum for systemic change through targeted campaigns and dialogue.

2. Capacity Building & Training

APNA designs practical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives that strengthen the skills and confidence of persons with disabilities.

  • Deliver structured programs on physical, digital, and transport accessibility.
  • Empower women and girls with disabilities through leadership and self-advocacy workshops.
  • Facilitate online and in-person courses, webinars, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities.

3. Access Audits & Service Delivery

We help organizations and institutions adopt universal design principles through hands-on assessments and tailored solutions.

  • Conduct audits of built environments, public services, and digital platforms.
  • Provide recommendations and support for implementing reasonable accommodations.
  • Offer ongoing technical assistance to ensure compliance and inclusivity.

4. Awareness & Social Mobilization

Through public campaigns and outreach, APNA works to shift perceptions and break down stigma.

  • Lead awareness initiatives focused on disability rights, gender-based violence, and inclusion.
  • Share rights-based information on entitlements and services available for persons with disabilities.
  • Use diverse platforms, including newsletters, podcasts, and social media, to amplify voices and stories.

5. Economic Empowerment & Leadership

Economic independence is key to achieving true inclusion.

  • Facilitate entrepreneurship programs and access to livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities.
  • Create mentorship networks and leadership pathways, particularly for women and girls with disabilities.
  • Ensure representation at all levels of community and policy leadership.
